Editor's Note

Pastor Saroja M

Season's Greetings to all my dear readers. The year 2011 has come to an end and as we step into the New Year let us recollect our thoughts and think how the past year has been. Let us think of all the good things that our good Lord has blessed us with and be hopeful that we will be blessed with even better things as long as we remain under His shadow and do the things He expects us to do.

The glory which man had lost due to sin, man saw it again in the clouds. Second time they saw the God's glory in Moses' tabernacle. Third time they saw His glory in Solomon's temple. The fourth time His glory has come in His only begotten son Jesus Christ.

Jesus came into this world in the glory of His Father, this glory was in Him. To the world He came as a man in the poorest of poor family. The people could not see His inner glory. He was born in a manger and was called the carpenter's son.

John the Apostle who was very close to Jesus was called His beloved disciple. He also saw Jesus as the Son of Man, but did not see Him as the Glorious Son of God.

Rev 1 : 14 to 16, "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength."

Beloved Children of God, this same Jesus Christ alone can give you His glory upon glory. When Jesus prayed to His Father as shown in , John 17:22, "And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one."

When the Son of Man's body was torn on the cross of Calvary, His inner glory came to us. What does Jesus expect from us Romans 9:23 says, "And that he might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory."

To see His riches in glory, He made our earthen bodies as vessels of grace.

The Israelites had seen God in the form of a potter. They prayed as perIsaiah 64:8 says, But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. Apostle Paul writes about this in Romans 9: 21- 23, "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory."

God's hand is not only a hand of love but also a hand of mercy, hand of glory, because this Hand has made you and me, we can see His grace. Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God."

Today the King of King's and Lord of Lord's desires to come into your homes. He will not come once and go away but He will stay with you forever and comfort you. John 14:16 says, "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."

That is why the Psalmist says in Psalms 24:7, "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in."

For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield, the Lord will be the grace and glory, no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endureth to all generations.

Wishing all the readers and members of Rose of Sharon Church a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS and A BLESSED NEW YEAR. May the coming year fill your lives with all the fruits of the Holy Spirit in abundance.

God bless and keep you till we meet in these pages next year!

Testimonies

Praise the Lord. I was suffering from head-aches which used to irritate me a lot. I used to get very much disturbed because of this pain. I took medicines also but it gave me relief only for sometime. But when Pastor Saroja prayed for me and gave me the blessed oil, I was completely healed. All praise goes to Lord Jesus and I thank Pastor Saroja who prayed for the prayer oil.

** Sis. Neelu Sanvia Ajmer, Rajasthan

Praise the Lord. For many years I have had a breathlessness problem. One day I had severe pain in my heart. I went to the prayer meeting of Pastor Saroja in Kalgaon. I wrote a prayer request and explained my problem. Pastor Saroja prayed over me and from that day onwards I have no pain in my heart or any parts of the body.

Thanks to our good Lord for healing me and also thank Pastor Saroja for praying for me. Thank you Jesus.

** Bro. Prince Mediwala, Umbergaon

Praise the Lord. My father had given his car on hire for one of the TV shows in Film city. The car was on hire for around 7 to 8 months. But as the deal was over when the time came for the payment, the dealer provided a bounced cheque to us. 2 to 3 times this happened. In the month of July, I had attended the fasting prayer and I mentioned my problem in the prayer request. Lord heard my prayer and the very next day the dealer gave the cheque and it was cleared due to the Lord's grace and mercy. I also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent and sincere prayers in the fasting prayer.

** Bro. Umesh Rathod, Mira Road

Praise the Lord. I would like to praise and thank my Lord for the wonderful way He has answered our prayers. As we all know my mom and brother had left our Church since the past 2 years. From that time there was no peace or oneness in my house. There was no family prayers or Church meetings at my house. They were praying separately and Dad and me were praying together. We were praying that the right spirit only should move in our house, and our house should be a house of prayer again.

On 18th Sep, when I came home from work, I was surprised to see my house half empty. My mother and brother had left our house on their own without informing us. They who were fighting for a share of the house had left quietly.

I thank and praise God for answering our prayers in such a wonderful way. Since my Dad and I had taken a stand for the Lord who had spoken to us. As Heb 3: 17 to 19 says, "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, though the labour of the olive may fail and the fields yield no food, though the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no her in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength; He will make, my feet like deer's feet and He will make me walk on my high hills."

Let the Lord always guide us in the true spirit for His glory.

We thank our Pastor Saroja for keeping the prayer meeting in our house. We are very happy and joyful for God's wonderful doing in our lives.

Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers.

*** Sis. Joy Shalaka Salins, Kalina.

Praise the Lord. I hereby testify of God's wonderful work in my life. I had great desire to buy an auto-rickshaw but there were many hindrances in me buying it. I requested prayers from Pastor Saroja. After she prayed within 2 weeks, I was able to purchase a brand new auto.

I thank the Lord for the miracle He had done for me in removing all hindrances in my getting the auto.

I thank Pastor Saroja from the depths of my heart for praying for me. Thank you Jesus.

*** Bro. Dineshbhai Bhurey, Bhilad.

Praise the Lord. I take this opportunity to thank the Lord for the wonderful work in the life of my family. My wife Diana was expecting. Pastor had prayed for my wife that she should have a normal delivery.

As per our wish and Pastor Saroja's prayers, Jesus has answered Pastor Saroja's prayers and He has given her a safe and normal delivery and blessed us with a baby boy. We thank the Lord for His wonderful work in our life and also thank Pastor Saroja for her sincere prayers for my family.

*** Bro. Kamlesh Rathod, Khar Danda

Praise the Lord. For the last 3 to 4 months, I was suffering from severe fever. The doctors could not diagnose anything. I was turning very pale and weak. My situation was very serious and I was admitted in the hospital. Then during the Bhilad meeting, Sis. Damayanti informed Pastor Saroja of my condition. Pastor prayed for me over the phone.

I praise and thank God for healing me from that moment itself. I am perfectly fine now. I thank Pastor Saroja for her faithful prayers.

The River

Robert was asked to describe attributes of the lover of God. Robert answered, "Once, I was standing by the banks of the river, beholding the fast flowing waters. I said to the river, "Limitless are your blessings in God's creation. You provide water to humans, to God's kingdom of vegetation, worms and insects, His kingdom of fishes, birds and animals. You provide water for agriculture and industries. Truly, we have no words to express our gratitude."

The river answered, "All I know is that I am eagerly rushing forward to merge with the ocean and be one with it. All that you just said is news to me. My one concern is how soon could I be one with the ocean." Robert then said, "These are the attributes of the lover of God. His one and only concern is to be united with his beloved. If in the process, he becomes the focal point from where God showers his blessings on one and all, the lover is not aware of it."

Lessons From Noah

  • Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.
  • Don't listen to critics - do what has to be done.
  • Build on high ground.
  • For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
  • Two heads are better than one.
  • Speed isn't always an advantage. The Cheetahs were on board, but so were the snails.
  • If you can't fight or flee - float !
  • Don't forget that we're all in the same boat.
  • Remember that the ark was built by amateurs and the Titanic was built by professionals.
  • Remember that the woodpeckers inside are often a bigger threat than the storm outside.
  • Don't miss the boat.
  • No matter how bleak it looks, if God is with you, there's always a rainbow on the other side.

Time Up

A middle-aged woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience. Seeing God she asked "Is my time up?" God answered , "No, you have another 40 years, 2 months and 8 days to live." Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a facelift, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair colour. Since she had so much more time to live, she thought she might as well make the most of it.

After her last operation, she was released from the hospital. While crossing the street on her way home, she was hit by a car and died immediately. Arriving in front of God, she demanded, "I thought you said I had another 40 years; why didn't you pull me out from the path of the car?" God replied, "I didn't recognize you."

Rose of Sharon Oldage Home
Mira Road - Mumbai

Greetings once again to all our dear readers in the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus of Nazareth. In this edition we share our experiences with you on granny Merlyn Braganza. Aunt Merlyn is 78 years old and was born and brought up in Mumbai. She joined the home in April 2008 and has completed 3 years and 8 months in the Rose of Sharon old age home. By the grace of God alone, she is enjoying good health and peace of mind in this place.

Aunt Merlyn by nature is very systematic and likes things in its place, the way she likes it. There are a few simple possessions which are very dear to her, like her Bible, her spiritual books, her grandson's photo, her pen and a few other things, are always beside her pillow. By mistake, if the position of even one of these things is shifted, she gets very upset and will re-arrange all her belongings as per how she likes. Her son always says, that in her earlier days, she used to be a very strict and disciplined mother and always used to keep things in its place, the house used to be spic and span and everything used to be in order. Aunt Merlyn is very independent and likes to do things on her own. She is also very fashionable and likes to experiment with her earrings. She is also an ardent reader and spends a major part of her time reading the Bible or her Biblical books.

When she was new to the home, aunt Merlyn was very short tempered and used to abuse the staff whenever they would try to take her for a bath or change her diaper. But a lot of things have changed with auntie over a period of time, she now is very cooperative and fully complies with the staff. If any visitor comes to visit her, she greets them with a warm smile and never misses the opportunity to talk to them.

God has been very gracious and merciful with Merlyn auntie. In the past Merlyn auntie was taking medications for Blood pressure and Blood Sugar, but our Lord Jesus has sustained her with good health and strength and it has been more than 2 years that her BP and Diabetes medicines have been completely stopped. The gift of good health is such a great blessing for all the residents here at the Rose of Sharon old age home who abide under the Lord's shadow. We pray that the Lord Jesus may continue to keep her in good health, joy, peace and happiness at all times. All glory to Lord Jesus alone. Praise The Lord.

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
Kalina - Mumbai

Praise the Lord. Each month we share something about our Sunday School children - about their personality, about their faith and love for God and about each of their talents.

This month we teachers would like to share about Angel Roberts who is in Senior Class in Sunday School. Angel is the oldest child and a responsible child. She will always take care of the younger children and guide and help them. When all the children queue up to go down to church after Sunday School - she chooses to stand last in line after all the little children so she can take care of them. She is also the one that Pastor calls out to - to take care of the little children during communion time when the children are by themselves. In Sunday School, Angel is a quiet and obedient child. If you give her any assignment to do she will do it diligently. Her Sunday School book is always neat and up to date. She also has a good talent for art - and she draws and colours well.

Angel is studious in her school. She puts her trust in the Lord every day, for everything. If she doesn't do her homework, if she hasn't studied and there is a test, if she doesn't like the girl sitting next to her and she wants a new classmate ... she trusts in God to do everything for her and she prays. She always has all such testimonies to share with us - how the Lord answered her prayers and helped her out.

We praise God for our Sunday School children - and each month we will continue to read about them, about their faith and God's abundant grace in their lives.

Praise the Lord.

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
Bhilad - Gujarat

Praise the Lord! Christmas greetings to all our readers. It's Christmas season and all of us are quite occupied in preparing to celebrate the day with the most beautiful reason. Our little ones in Rose of Sharon Sunday School (Bhilad) are thrilled to the core to be a part of preparation for Christmas Eve Function in our Rose of Sharon Church (Kalina).

The month of November was different; the children were involved in practicing for the skit, songs and dance for the grand evening. Every child has been eagerly looking forward to travel all the way to Mumbai for performance. Each child is special in his or her own way and is very talented.

This month, I'd like to share about Minal; a 12 year old girl in our Sunday School. Minal is by nature a very enthusiastic child. She likes to take lead in making special announcements like someone's birthday in the class as would want all of us to sing and clap for the birthday child.

She's got an amazing memory power and recollects all the Bible stories shared in the class in the manner in which they were narrated to the children. She's very talented too.

Once; I asked her to narrate the story of Zacchaeus in one of our classes; she narrated the whole part with a lot of gesticulation, without any hesitation and in a very expressive tone. She's also a very responsible child. She proactively has been helping the little children to rehearse their parts for the Christmas programme during the week-days. She loves to come to Sunday School and learn new songs, hear stories about Jesus papa and share testimonies even about the every little thing God has done in her life.

We thank God for instilling these good values in the lives of these little children and we pray that God continues to work in their lives in the days to come.

Praise the Lord.
** Sis. Mercy Moses
